How to update a Windows 10 Licence on a NETSetup Computer

This article explains how to update the windows 10 licence on a computer that has been installed using NETSetup and has lost its activation

Prerequisites

  • Access to the NETSetup computer that has lost its activation

  • The NETSetup computer must be connected to the internet

Procedure

Start the NETSetup computer and open the settings app.

In the settings app, go to Updates and Security (in German: Updates und Sicherheit).

Click on Activation (in German Aktivierung) in the sidebar on the left.

Windows will show that the windows licence key is missing or that no connection to the organisation’s Activation Server can be established. This text is in red.

Click on the blue text Troubleshooting (in German: Problembehandlung). This will open a new Troubleshooting window (see screenshot above).

The troubleshooting window will tell you that a digital licence has been found.

Click on Activate Windows (in German: Windows aktivieren) in the troubleshooting window. This will activate Windows (see screenshot above).

Close the troubleshooting Window. Windows 10 is now activated.

Verification

In the settings app, in the section Updates and Security in the subsection Activation, check to see that Windows is activated with a digital license. It should look lie this screenshot:
